She is well known for inventing the Hollow Flashlight, a flashlight powered solely by the heat of a human hand that won her Google Science Fair awards in 2013 at the age of 15. She has also written a book on her journey as an inventor and is currently working on her next project.

What did Ann Makosinski invent?
Ann Makosinski is the inventor of the Hollow Flashlight, which she created as a teenager. The flashlight works by using the heat of the human hand to generate energi. It is made of wood and has a rechargeable battery. At the age of 15, Makosinski won the 2013 Google Science Fair, thanks to her breakthrough invention.
In 2018, Ann presented her next invention, “eDrink mug”, a mug that converts heat from your drink into an electric current to charge your phone to Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show. In the same year, she received four major awards from the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

Ann Makosinski grew up in Victoria, Canada, a place of great beauty and serenity. Ann’s father, Arthur Makosinski, works at the University of Victoria, while her mother, Sandra, is from the Philippines.
